To sum up the previous month in one word. . . EXPLOSION.
Loves: Being BUSY, crawling/scooting, pulling up, putting everything in your mouth, remotes and cell phones or anything with buttons, eating whatever we are eating, cups
Dislikes: being dried off after a bath, diaper changes, baby cereal, teething pain (!)
Clothes: Mostly 6 month or 6-9 month, still a few 3-6mo onesies or sleepers, and almost all of your 3-6 month pants. Your 6-9 month pants hang off of you for some reason. Size 3 shoes. Size 2 and 3 diapers (using up the last of the 2s)
You weighed 17lbs 5oz at your checkup on May 10, and weighed 18.1 lbs two days ago on a home digital scale. You were 26.5 inches long at your checkup, but I really think you've grown a little taller this month.
Your hair is sandy brown with a LOT of red in it. Your ReeRee is SO happy about the red hair... that's where you inherited it from! Your eyes are staying blue like your dad, Papa, and Grandaddy Russell.
You are a good taster. You'll eat ANYTHING... you've eaten every single flavor of baby food that I have bought (and I have tried almost all of them). You love whole milk yogurt. You've tried a couple of baby food meats and mashed up chicken and liked it too. You still prefer to eat whatever we are eating and this month have tasted everything from fried rice to pot roast to lemon wedges to baked beans to hashbrowns to blueberry-vanilla frozen yogurt (your favorite). The funniest thing to me is that you are not a good eater for me because you prefer to nurse, but you'll eat like a champ for anyone else. I had to turn you over to your grandparents for them to feed you supper last weekend because you refused to eat for me.
You are sleep trained and go to bed now great. You also take naps well at home. You tend to wake up once in the early morning (around 2-3 a.m. and dream feed), but you have skipped that a few nights. You go to bed anywhere between 6-8pm based on our schedule and how tired you are, and you usually wake up on your own between 5:30 and 7am.
You have been teething. You got your first tooth (lower middle left) about a week ago. Teething is MISERABLE for you. We've done medication, teething tablets, oragel, chewies, frozen things, and you still fuss a lot. You have gotten to be super fussy at daycare when your gums hurt, but you will let anyone comfort you.
You've started having some separation/stranger anxiety. You cry whenever I put you down at daycare or if you see me come in to daycare but not immediately pick you up. You also have started being "bashful" when some people come up to talk to you. You bury your head in my neck.
You are sitting up like a champ. You pulled up for the first time on May 11 and you haven't stopped trying since. You've accidentally turned loose a few times, but you just sit down when that happens.
You are hilarious around your baby cousin. You get excited when you see her and go after her. You grab her face, ears, shirt, and kiss all over her. Y'all will be "bess frans," and I can't wait to see it.
Your cousin Avery hasn't been born yet. He is due in exactly one week. We are patiently awaiting his arrival.
You will dive at people to give "sugar." It's slobbery and open-mouthed, but precious.
You are starting to figure out how to play peekaboo when people pop out from something to surprise you. You'll lean around and look for them.
You peed in the potty for the first time today! We are not doing any training yet, but just bought a little potty chair to sit you on while we are in the bathroom before you bathe. You like to play with your toys and sit on it.
You got a play yard "baby cage" today for your "birthday." We've also childproofed this month adding cabinet latches, cushions on the hearth and moved the bookcases and removed breakables. You are fairly mobile now, and I expect that to explode further this month.
You are the best.
