Five months!

Loves: sitting up, "talking," your brother, baths, chewing/gumming everything, tasting grown-up food

Dislikes: being hungry, having a wet/dirty diaper, being held like a baby, thinking you have been left alone

Clothes: Mostly 3-6 or 6 mo. Size 1 shoes

Hair is dark-medium brown and growing back in. Eyes staying Steel blue.

You are breastfeeding. You eat like a champ and also take pumped bottles well.

You take 4-5 bottles a day at 3 oz each. You nurse 2-3 times at night before bed.

We started cereal and food this month. Nothing serious, but you seem to enjoy it. Like rice cereal ok and prunes. Tasted peaches and banana but weren't overwhelmed by either. You eat something maybe 3 times per week.

Your sleep went crazy this month. You wake up several times a night and prefer to sleep in your toddler rocker chair. You have had the sniffles on and off, and I think that's part of the issue.

You are super alert and don't want to miss a thing. You'll usually take one or two good naps a day, but otherwise you catnap.

You love to "talk" and coo. You are VERY smiley. You also raise your eyebrows, then smile, which is hilarious.

You like to socialize. You've been to several events at church, and you pay rapt attention. You started going to the nursery this month. You generally do well.

You pretty much sleep anywhere and sound/light doesn't bother you. You seem to enjoy white noise and fans.

You wake up for the day between 6-7 and stay awake for a couple of hours before your first nap.

You like to watch your brother. You enjoy being outside if you can watch whatever he's doing.

You are rolling both ways. You are sitting up some... Can balance well on a flat surface but when you really start reaching for toys, you can get a little tipsy. I suspect you'll be a pro within a week or two.

You weigh around 16-17 lbs I guess?

You are extra drooly. I wonder if you'll get a tooth this month. Andrew got one at 5.5 months. You looooove to chew on things.

You are so sweet and squishy and precious.

Andrew tells you that he loves you fifty times a day and gives you twice that many kisses. I hope you two are always close.

Three Years Old

Sweet Andrew, you are three!!!

You are the sweetest little boy.

You love your sister, watching TV (Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, Bubble Guppies, Team Umizoomi, Curious George, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood), playing with any kinds of trucks or cars, reading books, singing, and helping us do things.

Your favorite foods are peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, any kind of cracker or cookie, fruit chews, fruit, milk/yogurt/cheese, chili, and any breakfast food. You do not like much meat or vegetables.

You know all of your letters, upper and lower case, and most of their sounds. Can count to 40 unassisted, and to 100 with us reminding you which forty/fifty/sixty set comes next.  You are starting to sound out simple words.

You are about 36 inches tall, weigh about 31 lbs, wear a size 8.5 shoe, 2T/3T pants, and 2/3/4T shirts.

You memorize everything... songs, episodes of shows, conversations.

You like marching bands. You told me your favorite color is blue.

3 Months

Loves: sitting up, "talking," your brother, baths

Dislikes: being hungry, having a wet/dirty diaper, being held like a baby

Clothes: Mostly 3 mo, and a mix of 3-6 mo and few 0-3 mo. Size 1 shoes.

Hair is dark brown. Eyes staying gunmetal gray/steel blue.

You are exclusively breastfeeding. You eat like a champ and also take pumped bottles well. Still using slow-flow bottles, but you don't like to recline much when you take them.

You take 4-5 bottles a day at 3 oz each. You nurse 2-3 times at night before bed.

You are mostly sleeping through the night. I put you down around 8 or 9 most nights and you sleep until 6 a.m. On the very rare occasions that you wake up, it's usually around 4 or 5 am and you quickly nurse and go right back to sleep.

You love to "talk" and coo. You are VERY smiley. You also raise your eyebrows, then smile, which is hilarious.

You like to ride in your carseat IF the car is moving or if you're in your stroller and it's moving. Once the car or stroller stops, you want out.

You pretty much sleep anywhere and sound/light doesn't bother you. You seem to enjoy white noise and fans.

You wake up for the day between 6-7 and stay awake for a couple of hours.

You like to watch your brother. You enjoy being outside if you can watch whatever he's doing.

You aren't routinely rolling over yet, but have managed to flip over a couple of times. You prefer to scoot in circles on your play mat. You will use your foot to catch one of the support bars and push yourself around. You also push yourself with your feet when you are doing tummy time (especially if you are propped up on your Boppy).

You are particular with other people. You prefer me and your ReeRee to most other people, but will like a lot of people hold you if you are asleep OR if they are up and walking around.

Two year old, two month old--- Favorite Things

These plates:

Re-Play Divided Plates (and Bowls)- Made from recycled plastic, they are sturdy and have deep compartments. Deep enough to hold yogurt or applesauce without making a ridiculous mess. Also small enough to fit on a high chair or booster seat tray. The bowls are sturdy with a wide base- perfect for toddler cereal bowls.

Swaddle Me sleep sacks- small size fit for about 6 weeks, large size still fitting fairly comfortably at 11 weeks (and ~13 lbs). First baby did not like to be swaddled. Second baby loves it. These are my favorite brand-- stretchy, cotton/jersey type fabric that's not too hot.

Battat Toy Garbage Truck-- I'm sort of a perfectionist about toys. I don't like electronic toys, and I like for things to be fairly interchangeable. Meaning, that his toy cars can be played with on his train table or are big enough or intricate enough to mix in with our Little People collection. This one meets all my requirements, affordable (~$15), "functional" (cab comes on and off, can add a driver, has a working back and garbage cans and a large inner compartment), and interchangeable with our other toys.

Nylon-material Headbands-- we have LOTS of baby headbands, from the "crochet" kind to fabric elastic to cotton knit. My favorites for a young baby are the ones made from nylon, almost like pantyhose material. They are soft, stretch well, and do not leave imprints.

Pagoda Potstickers-- I love gyoza and Chinese dumplings. These are sold at Walmart, are affordable (<$3) and taste pretty authentic. I microwave them to defrost, then pan fry them. They can also be steamed in a pan with water and oil in true pot-sticker style. I prefer my 2-3 minute method.

Wildkin Backpack for Toddlers-- we LOVE this backpack. Our first daycare bag was the Wildkin messenger bag, which I loved as a daycare diaper bag. It was washable and held a lot. Then we moved on to a SkipHop backpack as a diaper bag for going to the babysitter (Grandparents' house) and church. It held exactly what we needed at the time. Now, in preschool, we needed a backpack big enough for a regular size folder but small and light-weight enough for a toddler to carry. This fit the bill perfectly and is also affordable and washable.

Infantino Swift Carrier-- key words with two kids, affordable and washable. This carrier has been used with both of my babies. It works up to 17 lbs. I used it at 2 weeks with baby girl (with her facing me). it has small connectors at the bottom that can help make the leg holes smaller. It also can be tightened to keep young babies secure. When they develop head control, they can be flipped around and face outward. It does not have lumbar support but is more of a young/lightweight baby carrier. I keep it in the car and use it at church/Awana and to go shopping.

two months

Loves: music, your brother, sitting up and being nosy, being talked fo

Dislikes: being hungry, having a wet/dirty diaper, being held loosely (you prefer to feel extra snug and secure

Clothes: 0-3 mo, 3 mo and a few 3-6 mo. You've outgrown a few 0-3 mo sleepers. Shoes- some newborn, some size 1

Hair is dark brown. Eyes staying gunmetal gray/steel blue, same as your brothers for now.

You are (still) a great eater! You took to breastfeeding like a champ and also take pumped bottles well... Prefer slow flow bottles.

You are exclusively breastfeeding and have had no formula yet. You eat every 2-3 hours and take 1.5-3.5 oz at a time.

You are a fantastic sleeper. Generally sleep through the night (9pm-6am) about half the time, and the rest of the time will wake up once around 3am to eat and go immediately back to sleep.

You are super alert and don't want to miss a thing. You'll usually take one or two good naps a day, but otherwise you catnap. And you sleep much better for me than you do for others.

You love to "talk" and coo. You are VERY smiley.

You are a great traveler and have visited friends and family. You did well at church at 6 weeks of age.

You pretty much sleep anywhere and sound/light doesn't bother you. You seem to enjoy white noise.

You wake up for the day between 6-7 and stay awake for a couple of hours. You smile a LOT and like to be talked/sung to or played with, or read to.

You like to watch your brother. You enjoy being outside, although it's just now getting cool enough to take you outside.

You've been to the doctor, have been shopping, went to a football game, and have gone with us to take your brother to school. You also have done VBS, church, and visited family. You like to lay on your right side. We have to make you go to your left periodically. You have rolled over with assistance, but your belly usually gets in the way.

Baby Margaret One Month

Baby girl, you are one month old today!
You weigh about 10.5 lbs, have outgrown newborn clothes and diapers and are in 0-3 mo clothes and size 1 diapers. You love to be held, but are particular. You want to be sitting up or propped on someone's chest. You only liked to be cradled if you're asleep. I swaddled you to sleep. You are a great sleeper. 3-6 hours at a stretch since day one. You eat every 1-3 hours during the day and take about 3 oz from a bottle. You are sassy and love your brother.

Birth #2

Our precious baby Margaret was born on July 6 at 7:37 am. She came out screaming with a head full of dark brown hair. She outweighed her brother, checking in at 8 lbs even. She is precious and hilarious and chubby and delicious. A big snuggler and quick nurser, she doesn't play around with meals. She likes to look around and loves watching her big brother. Her delivery was easy and hospital stay easy. She's yet to take to a pacifier and doesn't love her swing. She sleeps best swaddled, going 3-5 hours at a stretch at night. Wearing newborn diapers and clothes at 2.5 weeks, but moving out of them soon.
