My sugary-sweet big boy...
Loves: standing up on your own, throwing things, TALKING!, eating, animals, your daycare teacher (you've been crushing for months now)
Dislikes: being scolded (for biting), diaper changes, being offered "baby food" when we are eating real food
Clothes: Finally outgrew your 6 month rompers... only because you are tall though. Your waist is small. You can wear any shirts from 6-9 months to 2T. Your pants and shorts range from 3-6 months (finally getting pretty small on you) to 12 months (only a few pair fit around the waist... most are too big). You are in both 6-9mo and 9-12 month pajamas. Children's Place "stretchies" have been our very favorites from the beginning.
You were 19 lbs, 5 oz on August 21. You were 29.5 inches tall.
Your hair is getting long and starting to curl. I'm going to let it go as long as I can as long as it doesn't hit "mullet" stage.
You are SO happy. You still smile for cameras automatically and are a HUGE flirt.
You started really chowing down in the last month. You eat "big kid" food at daycare... whatever they have for lunch. Ravioli, pulled pork, chicken, etc. You generally make a big mess but are determined to do it yourself. You still like fruit baby food and sweeter vegetable baby foods (like sweet potatoes, carrots). You will eat pretty much any vegetable if you can feed it to yourself.
You've gotten really addicted to nursing at night. You're taking bottles and sippy cups well. We will be working on weaning down the bottles over the next few months. You nurse on demand in the evenings and in the mornings, but you are usually too busy to do too much until you get sleepy, then you settle in and nurse. Still breastfeeding fully (no formula), a small amount of juice. You are a pro at straws... you had tea today at Newk's and thought it was great (true little southern boy of mine).
You go to bed anywhere between 6-8pm based on our schedule
and how tired you are, and you usually wake up on your own around 5:30 or 6 am. You usually take a morning nap around 9 and an afternoon nap
around 2. You still occasionally take a cat nap at lunch or around 5, but not
too often.
No new teeth. Your top 4 teeth are pretty much all the way in. You got in trouble for biting a friend at daycare two weeks ago.
You are pretty social. You tend to be shy around unfamiliar men or anyone who talks too loudly.
You mostly crawl and cruise. You will take one step between cruising surfaces but won't turn loose and walk. You can stand on your own, you can stoop and recover, and you have been able to sit on your knees for a couple of months now.
Your language is starting to explode. You say (all specific) mama, dada, ball, dog, uh-uh, duck (really "du-duck"), yeah, uh-oh, ho ho ho, hey, woof (in response to "what does a dog say?"). We are working on KK, Ree-Ree, and other family names. Also working on body parts. You know the signal for "touchdown!" and love to clap your hands when we say "Yay!" You give high fives and will "hide" (under a sheet, duck your head under something, etc.
You get jealous when I hold other babies. You try to crawl into my lap or even attempt to nurse through whatever clothing I have on if I am holding another baby (usually Avery or Leah).
You are still using your potty regularly.
You have discovered how to hide things and like to look for them. You love throwing things out of your cage or out of your crib.
You are the best.
